Cassi had a long career as a professional singer and things changed after an unfortunate accident which inhibited her physical movement. A few years later Cassi decided to take her passion for art and nature and started painting with inks and acrylics.
Cassi is hopeful that through her paintings she is able to express and share her feelings about the beauty of our natural world. “Getting outside is good for the soul. Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in, while I make no attempt to portray an exact replica of nature’s elements, I do want my creations to look like they exist or grew somewhere.” “Living with beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world is my inspiration and has a soothing, calming influence on my life.”
Her use of colour, light, design and form emphasise the moods of nature. Layers of her chosen medium are applied to create atmospheric representations of the chosen subject matter. Cassi has worked as a creative artist in many areas including textiles, embroidery, film, graphic design, theatrical make-up also as an art educator through facilitating workshops and more recently co-convening the Makers Market on Tamborine Mountain.
