Māori dancer and artist

Guy Ritani (Ia/they/them) is a proud Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Kahungunu & MacNamara Takatāpui Māori artist, activist, designer and teacher currently living on Wangerriburras Country.

They are the President of Tamborine Mountain Arts Collective and the Creative Director of ecological education organisation, PermaQueer. Guy has a fluid artistic practice from dance, piano & performance through visual & digital art, tapestry and illustration. They focus on relationships of craft, art and creation towards our landscape and understanding what cultural nuances uplift and empower reciprocal relationships.

Guy is a TEDx host and speaker, has lectured at Melbourne Museum, had works acquired by the Museum of Australian Democracy and created works for climate campaigns across the world reaching the steps of the UN, among other engagements. Guy is passionate about the role artistic practice plays in changing the fabric of reality around us and uses their position, privilege and skills to build brave spaces of creativity.
