Wave Beach - Re-rooted

Rerooted

Wave has been an amateur performance artist his entire life, finding opportunities to explore different versions of self, applying interpretive masks, and allowing materials in the moment to lead him into pure spontaneous creativity.

Re-Rooted is a live performance on the lawns of the Grand Chameleon. The performance is centred around a land art sculpture, a tree’s root ball implanted upside down. Like a national flag flown upside down signifies national distress, so too nature is in distress at the hands of human civilisation and “progress.”

Wave takes his unique brand of ritual theatre to a new level – exploring human response to natural disaster, while at the same time completing a pilgrimage cycle involving returning to his roots, and the roots of all humanity.

The sculpture will remain for the duration of the Arts Trail.
